[What not to do]

- Passive voice: Keep your sentences active with as few passive phrases as possible. We want our readers to feel propelled by copy that feels alive and action-driven.
- Cliche, jargon and lazy adjectives: Don't describe projects that can be accomplished with advanced tools or are only available in the West; place them in the context of Vietnam. Avoid using words like "easy," "simple," or "anyone can do it." Show, don't just describe with words.
- Over complicated sentences: Write simply and effectively. Each word and sentence should add value to your narrative.
- Stiff/formal writing: Don’t lose your reader in writing that feels overly technical, stiff or formal. Readers connect with conversational sentences that reflect the way they talk.
- Brand/product-led copy: Let your reader be the focus of your piece, and make sure every point services them rather than the brand or product you are writing about.
- Poor structure: Always start with a considered structure, which lends your article a tight, topic-driven, logical flow.
- Overusing emojis: An emoji in just the right spot? ????But use sparingly for impact.
- Overusing bolding: Don’t bold unnecessary words or overbold your paragraphs. Bolding helps readers scan copy quickly - too much can distract the eye, too little and they won’t take in your main points.
